Becoming a Herd brings together four audiovisual pieces created by Orquestina de Pigmeos over more than twenty years of artistic research. The projections share a common interest: observing the pastoral world and its ways of life as a different way of understanding time, territory and the relationships between living beings.
Based on sound actions, video dance and documentary works, the session invites the public to come closer to experiences where flocks, shepherds and landscapes become protagonists. The bleating of three hundred sheep, the traditional songs of the Serra da Estrela or the movement of a herd in transhumance are transformed into artistic matter and open up new forms of listening.
More than a simple film screening, Becoming Herd proposes a shared experience that questions the human view of nature and proposes other ways of being and being in the world. An invitation to discover the invisible connections that unite community, landscape and memory.
